About Semiconductor.co.uk

An independent, privately owned reference on the UK semiconductor sector, written to be accurate, attributable and useful.

Last reviewed: 21 August 2026

Purpose

Semiconductor.co.uk exists to answer straightforward questions about the UK semiconductor sector — how large it is, what kinds of company it contains, where activity is concentrated, and what Government policy is doing — with figures that can be traced to their publisher.

Editorial approach

  • Primary sources first. Where UK Government research exists, it is used in preference to secondary commentary.
  • Every figure is attributed. Statistics appear alongside the publication, publisher and date they come from.
  • Paraphrase, not reproduction. Official material is summarised in our own words and linked, rather than copied.
  • Estimates are labelled as estimates. Sector revenue, GVA and employment figures are modelled estimates, not audited totals.
  • No invented detail. Named companies, valuations, testimonials and endorsements are not published unless they can be sourced.

Current primary sources

  • Semiconductor Sector Study 2026Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, published 8 June 2026, updated 12 June 2026.
  • UK AI Hardware PlanDepartment for Science, Innovation and Technology, published 8 June 2026.

Ownership and independence

The domain and this site are privately owned. Semiconductor.co.uk is not affiliated with the UK Government, any Government department, or any semiconductor company, cluster organisation or trade body mentioned here. No content is sponsored, and no organisation pays for inclusion.

The owner is also open to discussions regarding an outright acquisition of the domain or a commercial licensing arrangement. That is stated openly on the site rather than concealed, and it does not affect which sources are cited or how figures are presented.

Corrections

Accuracy matters more than completeness here. If a figure, attribution or description is wrong, please say so and it will be corrected or removed. Corrections can be raised through the enquiry form — mark the message as a correction and it will be routed accordingly rather than treated as a commercial enquiry.

Review dates

Pages carry a genuine last-reviewed date that changes only when content is substantively reviewed. Dates are not refreshed automatically on deployment, so a date shown here means the content was actually checked then.
