UK graphene electronics company Paragraf joins Korean commercialisation initiative

Paragraf, the graphene electronics company based in Huntingdon, has joined South Korea's K-Graphene Commercialisation Council. The company states that it is the only international business among the initiative's founding members, which it puts at 26 organisations.

The programme is intended to accelerate the commercialisation of graphene materials, devices and components, moving them from research into volume applications.

The relevance to the wider semiconductor landscape is in materials. Two-dimensional materials such as graphene are being examined for sensors, interconnects, power devices and heat management, where the properties of conventional silicon and compound semiconductors reach practical limits. Paragraf's approach is to grow graphene directly onto semiconductor-standard wafers, which is what makes the work compatible with existing device manufacturing rather than a separate laboratory process.
