Pragmatic Semiconductor appoints new EVP for manufacturing and operations

Pragmatic Semiconductor has appointed Dr Paul James as Executive Vice President, Manufacturing and Operations, with immediate effect.

The company states that James brings around 25 years of semiconductor manufacturing experience, most recently a decade as Managing Director of Vishay Newport, the South Wales wafer fab formerly operated by Nexperia.

The appointment comes as Pragmatic continues to scale manufacturing at Pragmatic Park in County Durham, where it produces flexible integrated circuits on a non-silicon process aimed at high-volume, low-cost applications.

Senior manufacturing hires of this kind are a reasonable indicator of where a company is in its industrialisation: the skills being recruited are those of running a fab at volume and yield rather than proving a process. Details are as announced by Pragmatic Semiconductor.
