ALTER UK is the British arm of TUV NORD ALTER Technology, a Spanish-headquartered testing and qualification group. From laboratory and production facilities in Edinburgh, with a design centre in Glasgow, it operates as an outsourced semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT) provider. Work covers package design and modelling, wafer sawing, die attach, wire bonding, flip-chip, plastic encapsulation and hermetic sealing in ceramic and metal packages, followed by test, qualification and failure analysis. It handles ICs, ASICs, MEMS, sensors, laser diodes, LEDs, VCSELs and discretes, and has specific experience packaging silicon photonics and indium phosphide photonic integrated circuits.
