Ffotoneg is a Cardiff compound semiconductor photonics start-up, founded in 2023, offering a design-to-device service. It models and designs photonic devices and their epitaxial layer structures in house, then has wafers grown by epitaxy partners and processed in university fabrication facilities, with the aim of making customer designs manufacturing-ready in the UK. In 2025 it won CSconnected Supply Chain Development Programme funding to build epitaxial design workflow software.
