Gas Sensing Solutions develops and manufactures solid-state gas sensors from its base in Cumbernauld, North Lanarkshire. Its products are built on a proprietary mid-infrared LED platform, and the company states that in-house molecular beam epitaxy allows it to control the optoelectronic structures and characteristics of the LEDs at the heart of its sensors. This gives the business a direct semiconductor-manufacturing role rather than that of a sensor assembler alone. Its sensor ranges measure carbon dioxide and methane for applications including indoor air quality, industrial safety, horticulture and transport. The company supplies both sensor modules and complete sensing solutions, and describes control of the process from epitaxial growth through to finished devices. The Cumbernauld operation carries out design, epitaxy and manufacturing on one Scottish site.
