Company profile
Pixel-Flo
University of Sheffield spin-out developing a fluidic self-assembly process for placing micro-LED die at volume, addressing the transfer step in micro-LED display manufacturing.
Company overview
Pixel-Flo is developing a fluidic self-assembly process for the mass transfer of micro-LEDs, a critical step in display manufacturing. A spin-out from the University of Sheffield, the company aims to address the throughput, yield, and cost limitations of conventional 'pick and place' mechanical assembly. Its proprietary "Continuous-Flo™" technology adapts a standard slot-die coating method, using meniscus forces to continuously guide micro-LED die into position on a substrate. The process is designed to be backplane-agnostic, handle smaller die than mechanical methods, and enable a single step for RGB placement. This approach intends to make micro-LED displays viable for mass-market applications. The company is backed by several venture capital funds to commercialise its technology.
