Quinas Technology is a UK-based company commercialising ULTRARAM™, a novel memory technology invented at Lancaster University. ULTRARAM™ is designed to function as a universal memory, combining the high speed of DRAM with the non-volatile storage of flash memory. The technology is built on III-V compound semiconductors and uses a patented quantum resonant tunnelling mechanism to store data, offering significantly lower energy consumption compared to conventional memory. Quinas is developing this as a technology platform for applications including AI data centres, edge AI, and high-performance computing. A variant, ULTRARAM-Neuro™, is also in development for compute-in-memory and neuromorphic systems. The company collaborates with an international ecosystem of foundries, research partners, and system developers to bring the technology to market, positioning itself as a developer of semiconductor IP.
