Singular Photonics is an Edinburgh-based fabless semiconductor company that develops and markets single-photon avalanche diode (SPAD) image sensors. A spin-out from the University of Edinburgh, the company was formed from the CMOS Sensors and Systems group. Singular Photonics' core innovation is the integration of advanced computation and signal processing directly onto the sensor chip. This approach turns the sensors into computational engines capable of on-chip photon counting, timing, and histogramming, which reduces power consumption and data transfer requirements. The company's 3D stacked sensors, such as the Litavis and Andarta products, are designed to capture depth and temporal information. These sensors are intended for a variety of applications across the scientific, medical, spectroscopy, and health and wearables markets. The firm has achieved ISO 9001 certification.
