Company overview
Sivers Photonics designs and makes III-V compound semiconductor lasers and photonic devices at its wafer fab in Blantyre, near Glasgow. It produces distributed feedback (DFB) lasers and other photonic chips in volume and runs a custom foundry service. The business began as CST Global, a University of Glasgow spin-out; it was acquired by Sweden's Sivers IMA in 2017 and renamed Sivers Photonics in 2020, and is now part of Sivers Semiconductors AB. Long-running collaboration with the University of Glasgow produced the first practical blue DFB semiconductor laser.
