Company overview
Vishay Newport is the former Newport Wafer Fab in South Wales, owned by Vishay Intertechnology since March 2024. It describes itself as the UK's largest semiconductor manufacturing facility. Vishay plans around 250 million pounds of investment with UK, Welsh and local government support to add compound semiconductor power device production, particularly silicon carbide for electric vehicles, data centres and renewable energy, alongside existing silicon manufacturing. The Grade II* listed building was built for Inmos in the early 1980s.
