Company profile

Applied Microengineering

Oxfordshire manufacturer of wafer bonding and aligner-bonder systems with integrated optical alignment, built and tested at its Harwell facility for silicon and MEMS wafer processing.

Company overview

Applied Microengineering Ltd (AML) is a UK-based equipment manufacturer that designs and produces wafer bonding systems with integrated wafer-to-wafer alignment. The company's main products are its AWB (Aligner Wafer Bonder) and ROCK systems, the latter designed for ultra-high vacuum applications. These systems provide a range of bonding techniques with in-situ optical alignment capabilities. All equipment is constructed and tested in a cleanroom environment at the company's facilities on the Harwell Campus in Oxfordshire. From this UK base, AML supplies its aligner-bonder equipment to a global market, supported by sales agents in Asia and direct sales in Europe. The company was co-founded by Tony Rogers, a recognised expert in the wafer bonding field.
